“Home Enough to Me” (Dean & Brush)
Celebrating a very special person in a very special way: it’s my mom’s birthday! I’m so grateful to have her in my life and to be able to be with her in person this year ♥️♥️♥️
We recorded this music video over the weekend: we had planned to go to a pumpkin patch/corn maze, but they were swamped with people. Instead, we ended up making this in the beautiful countryside near those farms (outside of Milton, FL)! It was so much fun and a special memory to do something like this!
This video is part of a #10gloChallenge featuring the music of Dean & Brush! This song comes from their musical The Anxiety Project, which gives a creative voice to mental health issues.
I have had the absolute privilege and joy of getting to know and work with Rachel Dean, the composer, while at NYU. In addition to being phenomenally talented, she is also just a wonderful and kind soul.
I love how “Home Enough to Me” expresses truths I’ve lived, both in its larger context and in the details of certain lyrics. I’m so grateful for the people in my life who create the safe space and sense of comfort for me of ‘home’ ? Treasuring those people right now feels like just about the most important thing I can do.
And I’m grateful that I got to make this video with/recognizing three of them (though it’s really four in spirit – this is Rachel playing the accompaniment!) ♥️ Thanks to Dean & Brush and 10glo for giving us a reason and means to do this!
Thanks to my family for helping make it! Everyone chipped in multiple ways; thanks to Chris for being the primary cameraman ? and thanks to all of you for always supporting (and being involved in) my ideas!
Tech stuff (in case anyone is interested):
- I record and edit audio in Logic Pro X; my mic is a Neumann TLM 103 (great mic!!) and interface is an Apogee Duet.
- For video, I edit in Final Cut Pro; the camera we used here is a Sony Handycam FDR-AX53 (great camera that we’re learning how to use! One of the best features is the built-in stabilization, which helps smooth what you record when you’re walking/moving and don’t have or want to use a gimbal).
Thank you for watching!
